The sound of everything (part two)
Every day the cats are all they have to be - cats
The borrowed dog is all and only what it has to be - a dog
The heart-steady horses are all they need to be - horses
And I am what I have to be - an artist.
Today I inspect the insects,
watch the birds,
tend my garden.
Converse with my cats and forget humans.
And do my work.
Tomorrow it will be the same.
I live in my dream, over and over and over again.
I made it.
And I hear the sound of everything.
