Artist Statement
With inspiration gathered from both a journey to South Korea, and then a change of residence to the Dandenong Ranges, Tracy Potts has blended both of these locations into her intricate artwork.
Using her skills of free-form crocheting combined with fastidious weaving and stitching, her work reflects both being in a country - without the grasp of any language - and her quiet, solitary and simplified life surrounded by nature.
Tracy’s work includes a third component within her abstract work, which expresses the varied occurrences and experiences gathered throughout a lifetime. They are the woven tapestries that are the primary constructions of any one person, both the interior and exterior worlds which we create and construct and live within.
