Artist Statement
Ozempic Triptych explores the interplay between digital and biological modification, and the pressures faced by women to conform. The digital art world largely ignores 'plus sized' bodies, instead focusing on the 'ideal' or the 'perfected'. Here we see this strain via pixelated visuals, symbolizing the tension between nature, technology and social norms. The piece evokes questions about identity and transformation in a world where the organic and synthetic increasingly merge.
Artist Bio
Melbourne-based artist Richard McCoy thinks of his work as snapshots or inventories of fragmented lives. Often kitsch, with a consistent use of computer technology, his work explores the interrelationships between change, time, reality and identity. He works across fashion, print design, photography and digital art with the aim of suggesting alternatives to how we see the past, reality, and the transformative power of art.
