Natural State is a collection of works that explores the simple, sublime and enigmatic qualities of flora and fauna and our relationship to it. The natural world is a force that needs no reason or explanation, yet as humans we require its produce for physical sustenance and its beauty for emotional replenishment.
"To what end is nature?" – writes Ralph Waldo Emerson in his Essay ‘Nature’ written in 1836.
This exhibition consists of a series of still life compositions created from objects found within the artist’s immediate vicinity. Each piece aims to bring into play a strong sense of the moment, mood and feeling. By opening up a dialogue between our inner lives and the outer world, we may hope to arrive at a grounded place of perspective, where we can see ourselves reflected back in every little leaf and create a home amongst the uncharted chaos and beauty of the world around us.
