Ru Ying Cai
Opening Night
Wednesday 26th September, 6-8pm
◼︎
The mediumistic qualities of tissue paper are such that, along with any given set of dyes, the colour of a sheet is entirely a product of light let through. Ru Ying Cai relates the ebbs and flows of a life to this paper, to ink and incandescence, ‘the lines and folds of primary colour’. Her paintings, drawing from a childhood love of origami, a dress found in San Francisco and a life made in Menlo Park all evidence Ying Cai’s treatment of colour as a sculptural implement.
