Joshua Burrowes is a realist oil painter exploring relationships between objects depicted on a pictorial plane. Jiggery Pokery is an assortment of little characters, each with a story to tell. Careful staging and lighting evoke film noir with stark contrasts exaggerating expressions and shadows.

This style directs a very specific relationship between placement, lighting and subject, and forms the aesthetic premise for the exhibition.
