Opening Night
Friday 31 January | 6 - 8 pm
‘Blooming 2024’ is a series of flower paintings, that explore the ideas of the beauty of nature and the power of the flower that can bring calm and harmony to humans. Also, the symbol of flower symbolises Love, Innocence, Purity, Fascination, etc, that appears throughout the painting.
Artworks were influenced by the Dutch Still Life Painting of the seventeenth century. The element of flowers is added to many historical still-life paintings. The life of flowers is the same as human life. It goes through the process of budding, growing, blooming, falling, and withering. It also implies the budding, growth, maturity, decline, and even the final death in human life. The interconnectedness between life makes us cherish and appreciate flowers and natural life more.
In Lydia’s art practice, she was inspired by the traditional oil painting medium and methods of Glazing, Underpainting, Blending, Blocking and Painting with Medium. She developed individual stylistic and technical skills in the work. The symbolic words of flowers are an illusion while painting. The expression of peace and calm throughout the art built a deep relationship between humans and the art.
