Light Touch

29 January - 9 February 2025

Opening Night

Friday 31 January | 6 - 8 pm

Light Touch delves into the intrigue of the human form, focusing on vulnerability, seduction, and longing - to see more, to feel, touch and know. Jane seeks to capture not just the physical form but the emotions and complexities that arise from it. The human body, with its raw elegance and fluidity, evokes a sense of intimacy that can be both vulnerable and seductive, inviting the viewer to engage in a deeper, almost secretive dialogue.

The monochrome palette is essential to the work’s timelessness, stripping away distractions and allowing the forms to speak for themselves. Without the influence of many colours, the shadows become more pronounced, heightening the sense of intrigue, while the simplicity of the tones maintains an air of classic sophistication. The absence of clashing colours also serves to intensify the underlying tension of the body — teasing with subtle hints of lust, desire, and the unspoken. Each piece in this series is not only an exploration of the body’s physicality but also a meditation on the allure and complexity that exists beneath the surface.

In this exhibition, Jane invites you to explore the delicate balance between vulnerability and power, seduction and restraint, through the timeless, evocative language of the human form.

Artist Bio

Jane is an emerging artist from Ukraine, now based in Melbourne, whose work draws deeply from the captivating allure of the human body. With a keen focus on its sensual curves, vulnerability, and the subtle yet powerful longing expressed through its form, Jane's art invites an intimate connection.

Preferring to work in monochrome, she mixes her own paints from the three primary colours and white, ensuring each piece is uniquely her own and never the same, adding an exclusive, personal touch to every work. Her paintings evoke a timeless elegance and quiet seduction, making them not only a visual experience but an emotional one, inviting collectors to bring a piece of intimate beauty into their space.
