Jack Summers is a gestural painter in the mode of the Fauves and Neo-Expressionists, exploring selfhood via improvisation and spontaneous movement across large canvasses. Eschewing realism for intentional crudity of style, his mostly portraiture depicts everyday social and domestic life and its inhabitants, formalizing inner feelings in colour.
