Reviews

Cita Campbell, ‘Arts Review’1974, London: “His technique is perfect, his colours good. My favourites are a series of modern Art Deco prints: elegant, handsome and rich looking”.

Jeffrey Makin, at the Bartoni International Gallery, Melbourne: “David Turner has totally consistent, professional exhibition of gouaches, prints and paintings”.

Jeffrey Makin, 1984 Geelong Survey Exhibition, Geelong Art Gallery: “Turner is concerned for colour. Like Albers, Turner’s approach is methodical. Logical. Intent on exploring the variant possibilities of an unlimited pallete”.

Rod Carmichael, 1983 Geelong Advertiser: “His theme is the marketplace, small-goods counter and the butchers display and his masterly use of flat brilliant hues evokes the magical quality of sausages, hams suspended in theatrical loops”.

Pamela Ashcroft, Geelong Advertiser: Juke Box Series, Geelong Performing Art Centre: “Turner’s skill as a screen print maker in this current series is reaffirmed”.

These prints are all hand printed by the artist on Arches Vellum 240 gsm paper. They are in small editions of 8 to 10 prints with each print needing at least 10 to 15 individual screens that were either hand cut, drawn or from a photographic manipulated image.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a significant piece of original artwork that will only appreciate in value.
