The exhibition OUR OCEANS OUR EARTH reflects the tension between nature and the man-made environment in the coastal and urban areas of southeastern Australia.
The exhibition consists of acrylic paintings, gouache paintings on 300 gsm paper, and black and white & colour photographs. The black and white photos were taken, processed and printed by the artist, using a 35 mm film camera.
Indigenous culture going back 65 thousand years, is also referenced.
Artist Bio
Barbara Robinson was born one of a set of triplets in 1951 in Sydney Australia. She graduated from Swinburne University in 1973 with a Diploma of Art & Design - Graphic Design. Later she gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Media Studies from Rusden College of Advanced Education in 1983.
Barbara worked as a graphic designer & an audio-visual technician at the Caulfield campus of Monash University - within the then Educational Development Unit.
Barbara has worked as a freelance graphic designer and photographer around the inner north of Melbourne, and has been in over 40 group art exhibitions This exhibition is her 5th solo exhibition.
Barbara enjoys surfing, and is also a judo player, gaining her black belt in 2012, and her ju-jitsu black belt in 1989.
