GALLERY 1: Phil Edwards, Clinton Cahill, Peter Clarke and Augusta Zeeng are joined by curator/artist Dr Colleen Morris in this annual, multi-disciplinary exhibition. Morris’ practice focuses on waterways and the four artists chosen to join her in this exploration share her collaborative philosophy in relation to land, environment and ecological issues.
GALLERY 2: Nick Berry is an artist interested in paintings as installation objects and their manufacture as a process to demythologise painting’s own history. Surface explores the social and psychological experiences of his everyday life through ironic representations, parody and sentiment, thickly layered textures and structured, painterly forms.
GALLERY 3: It’s Only Show Business is a blast of experimental colour and gestural brushstrokes, a wall-sized collection of naïve works by painter, Kim Hatcher. The artist explores a fascination with show business and the chaos of the stage with art brut’s approach to representation, to humorous and engaging effect.
