The advertising lens has become a powerful tool for bodily control…

That glossy magazine girl from advertising – plucked, waxed, purged and shrunk to perfection has defined how a woman relates to her body.

The labouring, discomfort, time and effort to produce this effect is never seen or discussed. These body correcting, cosmetic rituals are never witnessed, all we see is a singular and controlled perspective, a magical product naturalized by the advertiser’s eye.
