Image making is Ross’ passion. He is particularly interested in urban and street photography. He constantly searches for the “perfect” image and loves to explore new and different ways of catching that “moment in time”. Ross sees Melbourne as a great city! He seeks to capture the ambience, life, colour and vitality of Melbourne’s CBD and inner-city suburbs. They are vibrant, lively, and endearing. He is attracted to the changing patterns, textures, angles, and spaces surrounding us. He finds them intriguing, compelling, and engaging.
The Urban Viewpoints exhibition presents perspectives on what Ross loves about Melbourne’s cultural expression and attractions. He has embraced digital technologies enthusiastically and revels in the opportunity to capture, make and publish images either in electronic or print formats.
His professional life has centred on education. He has been a teacher, curriculum developer and education administrator in Victoria’s Government school system. Since 2004 he has provided consultancy services to schools, state, and national education bodies in Australia.
Artist Bio
Ross Kimber has always been interested in photography and photographic gear and since digital cameras and associated software have become more accessible and affordable, his photographic journey has taken him into previously unexplored genres. Travel has opened countless new photographic experiences.
Membership of the Diamond Valley Photographic Society (DVPS) has broadened his understanding of photography and photographers. Sharing a passion for image making with others has stimulated and challenged him to improve. The opportunity to submit images for judging and exhibition provides further incentive for improvement. He has received many awards for images in the past ten years and has exhibited images in the Australian Association of Street Photographers exhibitions held in East Melbourne and exhibitions held by the DVPS.
