Ned Johnson makes use of a place he knows intimately to send a message to us all.

“Every painting is an attempt to speak without words of our passage through life.”

These paintings tell of his long association with the stony rises of Western Victoria. It is a landscape that has been shaped and mastered, neglected at times and cherished at other times. He sees with a clear eye and paints with thoughtful brushstrokes.

This exhibition examines what our predecessors have left us: the land, their abandoned remnants, and hope in the green recovery after drought and flood.
