Naoise Halloran-Mackay’s work documents contemporary Australian attitudes towards space and identity in today’s globalised world.

He explores the seemingly rapid relocation from working to middle class and examines current socio-economic structures.

In this series of paintings the artist alludes to traditional working class folklore and iconography; questioning it’s utilisation in todays political discourse.

Halloran-Mackay is a young Melbourne born artist who lives and works in the Macedon Ranges. He graduated from the painting department at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2018. Naoise was the recipient of the 2018 Tolarno Hotel art award, the 2018 Gogo Foundation art award and was one of three artists to undertake the 2019 Macfarlane Fund residency.
