In his current body of work Melbourne based artist Michael Armstrong presents an investigation into the process of attempting to represent the sensation of remembering.
His works explore how memory is made and reiterated through narrative and how memories fade and details are lost to the point where only the archetypal and allegorical significance is left.
Memories become less of the individuals experience and more the collective experience. The empty space becomes an invitation for each individual to fill in the gaps with their own associations. Where an image can become both personal and communal.
