Is a cataclysm of artistic responses from 2020, oh and 2021. A bulged cartoonish glare into the politics whereby humour is paraded through this show like sweat dripping off hot buns. The popular cultural dialogue intrigues and the dire straits... not a reference to that ewe band though. But we love PET SHOP BOYS. AND WE LIVE FOR THE TIME OF OUR LIFE.
About the Artist
Martha Ackroyd Curtis is an award winning Australian writer, podcast host, video, installation and multi- medium artist. Her work consists of large-scale installation art, which is formulated through cohesive conceptual design. She has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas, and participated in various art festivals; most recently as part of Auckland Festival of Photography 2021, part of the Asia Pacific Photo Forum.
Curtis’ podcast Tea & Bikkies launched as part of Midsumma 2022, was groundbreaking in that it combined interviews with LGBTQIA individuals and allies across the spectrum of the arts and community in Australia and overseas. Giving insight into culture, talent and the need for everybody to be given the chance to STAND and BE SEEN. This coincided in a year of historical significance for the LGBTQIA community and wider Australia.
Curtis' computer generated imagery was selected and screened at ACMI Federation Square, presented by QueerTechio, Midsumma Festival Presents and ACMI, summer 2022.
