Observing the changing condition in a woman’s life informs Marija Patterson’s current body of work. Having used recycled materials, (paper, plastic bags, aluminium cans) Patterson now uses predominantly ceramic and bronze - materials of the earth. A recent solo exhibition explored her mother’s journey from war-torn Europe to carving out a life in Australia. Patterson’s bronze and ceramic works, mainly female figures are imbedded with a broader narrative but each piece tells its own story.
