Fiona Wood

Statement

Flowers have many positive associations for Fiona. The flower's symbolism connects with her as she paints, and the practice is meditative.

Flannel & Protea flowers for example are known for their strength, courage, and resilience. Much of her inspiration comes from the flourishing native garden at her Tolmie property.

Bio

Fiona’s paintings are predominantly florals. Fiona paints mainly in acrylics yet likes to explore other mediums at times.  Fiona divides her time between Melbourne and her property in Tolmie. Her property provides much inspiration with a garden full of native flowers.

Fiona exhibits in art shows and sells through several shops. She also produces small ceramics, including ceramic flowers. She teaches art to students with disabilities/neurodiversity. She opens her studio each year as part of MOST.

Wendy Jagger

Statement

Strongly influenced by seasonal changes in the landscape and the diversity of native flora, especially in rugged alpine, inland, and coastal regions of Australia, Wendy Jagger’s paintings and ceramics capture her response to being in, within and of the land. Her work is held in public and private collections.

Bio

Wendy Jagger’s work has been a finalist in numerous national and international art prizes and is held in private and public collections, including Bendigo Art Gallery and Manningham Gallery. Commission clients include the National Gallery of Victoria, the Victorian State Parliament, and Mazda Australia. She is the founder of MOST.

Felicity Hayward

Bio

Felicity is a mixed-media artist working mostly in collage, gouache, watercolor, and pen. Her work is heavily influenced by her immediate surroundings and since moving from Melbourne four years ago her work has transitioned from dark architectural works to landscapes and abstraction.

Tony Pridham

Bio

Birds have always been Tony's passion. He has devoted his artistic endeavors towards birds for nearly 40 years. A keen naturalist, Tony can often be seen in the surrounds of the High Country birdwatching. In recent years Tony has begun expressing himself with figurative charcoals.

Pam Sumpter

Bio

Pam is an experienced ceramicist. Her work is influenced by her environment and surroundings. She combines welded metal and ceramics in the form of sculpted bird baths.

Pam’s artworks incorporate leaves, shadows, shapes, and marbled stoneware baths introducing colour and texture.  Pam is 76 years old and still going strong.

Clarissa Leatham

Statement

Clarissa takes inspiration from nature and the environment around her. The joy of holding a vessel in your hands and the way it feels and fits also influences the shapes Clarissa makes in her functional pieces of art. The process of creating texture by carving is just as enjoyable as seeing the finished piece.

Bio

Clarissa began her journey with ceramics in recent years when she started weekly classes in a local studio.

A growing love for clay led her to set up her small garden studio and following further studies in glaze theory, a myriad of colours and glaze styles opened to her. Her textured pieces reflect her interest in nature, colour and organic forms. Clarissa opens her studio to the public as part of Mansfield Open Studio Trail.

Amanda Swaney

Statement

Still Life works are a complicated play of objects, colour, light and placement. Photographer Amanda Swaney explores both the complex and the simple in her work. The Dutch Masters inspired works with connection between light, black depth and vibrant colours. In other images, objects play with or resist each other, consolidating to create aesthetically pleasing images.

Bio

At 10 years old Amanda Swaney was photographing with her Box Brownie. Years and many camera purchases followed. Since settling in Mansfield she has specialised in the art of still life photography. The abundant produce from her farm provides the materials for her images.

Amanda exhibits in the annual Lyceum Club photographic exhibition and is represented in the Centre for Contemporary Photography Salon.
