The Yellow Brick Road is an exhibition of works on paper on the theme of Emily’s favourite movie musicals. Her work joyfully combines a balance of distortion and attention to detail in works that are whimsical, humorous and surreal. With bold, striking and often candy coloured palettes the decorative and abstract qualities of her work are an uplifting expression of Emily’s love for her subject. Emily has autism. She is self-taught, with the support of her family and Arts Project Australia who facilitate her art making, which she does with enthusiasm and gusto.
