Ella de Graaf-Clark is a Wollongong-based multimedia artist who works across illustration, painting, sculpture, photography, and textiles. Ella has been practicing art since she was a young girl, knowing from the first moment that it is exactly what she wanted to do till the end of time. Her skills are primarily self-taught. However, she has been fortunate enough to receive formal training in fine arts, fashion, and design throughout her life, along with the help of her extremely supportive mum.
Ella's principal themes in her work include the future, humanity, science, technology, and ecology, actively considering how these grand themes connect to one another through a tangle of complex discovery. The topics which Ella explores intrigue and terrify her all the same. Through her thought-provoking creations, she hopes that her angst for the future can proliferate conversation, imagination, and a psychological impact, leaving the viewer riddled with questions about existence and the obscurities that come with being conscious.
