Turner’s love of all things geometric continues with this series of gouache being shown at Red Gallery. Geometric codes underlay most man-made objects even down to living organisms. Turner’s gouache are based on the geometric codes as found in the intricate Islamic designs and constructions of the Alhambra, Granada, Spain. Here you will find that cubes, rectangles, triangles and hexagons are the underlying structures to what they created. Turner’s other interests are the geometric codes used by the North American Zuni and Navaho in their intricate tapestries and basket designs.

Turner takes these basic geometric forms, isolates them in a grid and then repeats them continually and by so doing creates a dynamic pattern of movement with the further use of colour and optical effects that lead the eye on a dance through the works.

These gouaches are all patiently hand-painted onto Arches 640gsm cold press paper. They have become a labour of love and are meant to be enjoyed.
