Chloe Vallance is a painter and accomplished drawer whose subject matter is deeply informed by practices of meditation and yoga. For many years Vallance has been experimenting and resolving delicate compositions of ‘people she loves on plywood’. A decidedly unconventional and challenging medium, the artist’s forms are shaped upon and around the plywood’s surface grain. Vallance renders figures, postures, poses and pieces of abstract landscape onto this grain, into well-resolved final frames.
