27 May – 13 June 2009: Alexia Wheeler – Yesterday and Tomorrow

Alexia Wheeler, truck 5, 2008

Gallery 2

Wheeler’s installation of predominantly works on paper emerges from her experience as a mother with a three-year old child. In exploring the world of personal relations and domestic space, Wheeler draws out the intermingling of speech and thought, sketching out the internal confusion, tiredness, anxiety, lethargy and joy associated with parenthood. Yesterday and Tomorrow forms part of Wheeler’s investigation into memory associations between the artist’s own childhood and the objects and environments that surround her child.
