27 April – 14 May: Heather Hesterman – Fieldwork: Ovens and Merri

GALLERY 1:

Gallery 1 becomes Heather Hesterman‘s botanical installation Fieldwork: Ovens and Merri. Inside the gallery sits a plinth measuring a 28 foot mining plot, and seedlings of local indigenous plant species – which reference the displaced landscape lost to rail and mining progress. The skylights of the gallery enable the plantings to grow throughout the show, and viewers are encouraged to strip the exhibition back by removing their own cutting, native to the region, to enhance their own domestic environment.
