With a multi-layered mix of raw and acutely painterly styles, Robyn Dansie is a Fitzroy-based visual artist and flaneur. Her practise juxtaposes classical and religious iconography with ephemeral, commonplace imagery, a pop kitsch mash-up of sorts. Cartoons, children’s book characters, vintage wallpaper patterns, high and lowbrow content form a carefully articulated melange in a meandering depth of field. Wild-style from the street meets the Enlightenment. The meaning is ambiguous, the hidden messages allegorical.
