Opening Night Drinks – Thursday 21st February, 6-8pm
As though to ‘find himself’, Ben Champion is out and about as rural flaneur in Grand Ridge Drive – an exhibition of acrylic paintings that draw on studies from a vantage point overlooking a landscape. Wrought again by memory and its vagueries, his colour palette is Australian vernacular, muted and earthy. The dazzling forms are abstracted, expressively bent, worn and receding like hazed recollections of a distant and unfamiliar terroir. Across small and large naïve landscapes of Grand Ridge Drive, the effect is sublime.
