13 June – 30 June: David Turner – Pyramids Of Time

Opening Night Drinks Thursday 13th June, 6-8pm

Emerging beyond the discipline of curvature and radii, this new collection from established abstractionist David Turner draws upon a near half century study of symbol and recurring shapely patterns.

Optical art with a nod to the Memphis design movement, Turner’s work is fixed in the metaphysical. It is a bright force of precision, wrought by the sharpest hand-painted planes of colour and buoyant within a tight picture frame.

In a year when Gippsland Gallery revisits Allen Fox’s triumphant Frank-Stella-like geometric hard edge painting, this new chapter in the progression of a similarly talented linesman in Turner is a timely must see. A field day for the edgy geometrists.
