The School of Mines, Ballarat, has offered arts programs since 1870. In 1907 it first offered fine art as a formal qualification. The School of Mines later became the University of Ballarat and this year the Arts Academy celebrates it’s Centenary. This makes it the second oldest arts school in Australia after East Sydney Tech (1906) and one year older than the National Gallery School, now the Victorian College of the Arts (1908).
CampSt28 brings together the vibrant talents of 28 students from the University of Ballarat Arts Academy. This diverse group of artists explore a broad range of mediums from drawing through to painting, installation and large scale sculpture. The group floods through all 3 spaces of the gallery with a showcase of regional talent.
This group of artists is indicative of the vibrant arts community that is constantly developing and strengthening in regional Victoria.
