Opening Wednesday 5th September, 6-8pm
Performance art has, as it’s most central charge, an importance by impermanence. A tableau of six eclectic artists responding to place; actual, imagined and the mid-point of both, remembered, will be exhibited in gallery two. They’ve each been asked to select a specific location (the equivalent of a painted stage backdrop) to which a performance is conducted with props, costumes and all. Presence and Place is a cache of these objects, accompanied by films of their actioning. The art alludes to something once functional and now defunct. Curated by Tom Buckland.
